Hi I'm Cathy, the owner and company founder of Barton Soapworks.
My soap making journey started during lockdown when we were all struggling with 'sandpaper hands'. I stumbled upon an article about traditional cold process soap and I was intrigued by the idea that it could be much more gentle and moisturising than today's manufactured soap. I decided to make some of my own and I was hooked!
I absolutely love making something that is beautiful, useful, beneficial for the skin and luxurious - all at the same time!
It's really important to me to make sure that my products are good for both people and the planet. That is why I'm committed to never using palm oil or plastic in my products or packaging.
My soap designs and scents are inspired by the natural world—the colours, textures, and scents of flowers and plants. This love of nature naturally led me to essential oils. I never use synthetic fragrance—only real plant oils, carefully blended to create scents that feel fresh, balanced, and unique.
Essential oils offer incredible variety and complexity, from bright citrus to warm spice and grounding woods. Blending them is one of my favourite parts of soapmaking, and I love how each bar carries its own little story in scent.
